The pre-teen and teen years are some of the toughest years of our lives. That was true a generation ago and things are much harder nowadays. Kids are growing up faster than ever. And the culture is constantly bombarding them with messages that steer them away from Christian beliefs and values.

That’s why a church’s youth program is so critical.

Our goal with Vineyard Teens (6th thru 12th grade) is to help kids move beyond being Christians by default (because they were born in a Christian home) to owning their faith and living it out in a way that makes an impact in middle school and high school. And in the process, we aim to prepare them to thrive spiritually in their college years.

Christina and Tom Petz are leading a small group that meets the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month, right during the church service. It is designed to help our teens become biblically grounded to help them navigate the challenges that pre-teens and teens face in this day and age.

What We’re Studying:

In our December 10th session, we framed our discussion around a recent billboard a group of atheists put up claiming that the Christmas story was “fake news.” We recalled information we covered in our sessions from earlier this year where we talked about the fact that there are 39 different sources that confirm that not only was Jesus was a real figure in history, but also many aspects of the Gospel accounts. Then, we looked at three different prophecies about the birth of Messiah from the Old Testament and how these and other prophecies authenticate that Jesus was who Christians claim He is. And that’s GOOD news, not FAKE news!

Our next session will be on Sunday, January 14th, and we’d love for you to join us! If you’re a parent or a 6th to 12th grader, please fill out the contact form at the bottom on this page if you would like more information on our teens ministry and we’ll forward your message onto our leadership team. And, watch this page for updates on what our teens will be pressing into each month.
